Common uses
SOL is a great tool for hobbyists of all kinds. The most common uses are:
- Scan-to-print (Learn More) - In this case, the focus is on allowing users to create a duplicate or replica of an object easily. The scan will primarily be used for importing into a 3D printing program (slicer) and then output to a scanner. Objects may be scaled up or down prior to printing, depending on the user’s needs.
- Scan-to-share (Learn More) - This use case is all about sharing scans with others. Sales and marketing will want to show products consistently in a multitude of formats and platforms. Once a scan is completed, SOL can export the model into the most commonly used formats for further publication or distribution. Scans can also be uploaded to P3D for easy online sharing. Finally, once a scan is produced, industry-standard tools can be used to import the files into Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) applications and workflows.
